Sometimes my thoughts send me meandering along some very interesting paths. One of these paths has always been sheer wonderment about the power of the Word of God. One of the things that never ceases to amaze me is this fact, that people have been worshiping God since the time of Jesus until now. Reflect on this for a second; people were serving Him in the forties, fifties, sixties, seventies, and so on. Some have since passed away into eternity, and here we are now carrying the torch. People will continue to worship Him into the future long after we are gone. In short, The Word of God is Everlasting.
If you ever get asked why the Word is Everlasting, well, here are just a few reasons you can cite;
The Word of God gives us hope, Romans 15:4 says , “For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.”
The Word of God gives us peace, Philippians 4:7 “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus”; Psalm 39:7 says “And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in you.”
The Word of God is our guide for daily living, Psalm 119:105 says “Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
The Word of God gives us joy, Nehemiah 8.10, “The joy of the Lord is your strength”, and Psalm 16:11, “You will show me the paths of life; In your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
The Word of God teaches us about love, 1 John 4:8, “Any one who does not love does not know God, because God is love.” John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
The Word of God teaches us about salvation, John 14:6 says, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me”.
The Word of God teaches us about faith, Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding.”
There are numerous other scriptures in God’s Word that have the power to transform lives. This will only happen if we diligently seek Him and come to Him. He gives us free will and will not force himself on us; you only have to be willing!
In conclusion, the Word of God will never die out so long as we are faithful to pass the torch on to the next generation. Christianity must not die in our hands. As the Book of Jude states “….. I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once delivered to the saints.” Are you one of the “remnant”, will you be faithful to serve the Master until your last breath? The battle is not for the faint of heart nor for the weary. We must declare that we are marching on, “Onward Christian soldiers’ marching as to war” should be the battle cry of every believer of this time.
